Study English

Why study English in South Africa?

The spread of English in the southern tip of Africa started when the British took over the Cape colony in 1806, extending to the Eastern Cape with the arrival of British settlers there in 1820 and in Natal from 1848, and into the interior with the discovery of diamonds and gold a few decades later. Over the centuries it's been influenced by an array of other regional languages and has developed into a distinctive form of English.

     F
or an English language journey with a difference, South Africa and it’s English language schools will provide you with the chance to learn English and a trip of a life time! Outside the class room South Africa has much to offer and is one of the most diverse and enchanting countries in the world. Dominance of English in South African commerce

While English-speakers are certainly out-numbered, there is at the same time a larger, more permanent, and more influential body of mother-tongue speakers in South Africa than is the case, for instance, in India, Nigeria, or Kenya. There is in other words a greater ‘standard’ mother-tongue English presence in South Africa than in some countries which have opted for English as the language of communication.
